Support my summer education and collect your own limited-edition originals!
Hi! I’m Jayden, a junior Interdisciplinary Studies major, with concentrations in Art and Outdoor Leadership, as well as a minor in Biology. Many of you are familiar with my endeavors as an artist and live painter, but what you may not yet know is that post-graduation I plan to pursue a career as a Ranger Interpreter in a parks service system or other related outdoor education institution. As I move into my last summer as a college student, I have been looking for avenues to cultivate my gifts and passions while networking and building my resume for future career paths. I have recently been made aware of a summer opportunity that does just that.
Natural Curiosity is a non-profit prioritizing experiential outdoor education, located within the Gila National Forest in Southwestern New Mexico. I have been presented with the opportunity to stay on-site this summer as an artist-in-residence. I have been invited to work alongside staff, including a Furman alumnus who studied under the same concentrations, as well as biology students, to bring my concentrations together. The broader landscape of the Gila National Forest, including 700,000+ acres of designated wilderness area, sets the scene for artistic research in a way that cultivates a sense of place and gives others a unique view of creation. Staying at Natural Curiosity also offers the possibility for networking and future job opportunities.
Since Natural Curiosity is a brand-new organization, I need to raise my own support, and I want to use my gifts to do so. In showcasing my work on social media, my website, and my live gallery, several people have asked to purchase the bison painting. As it is deeply personal to me, I am not ready to part with it. However, to raise funds for my summer experience, I am offering a limited number of special edition paintings of different sizes based on a variety of budgets. My goal is to be fully funded by April 15th, but I can accept sponsorships through May 1st. This is important so that I have time to complete paintings before I leave!
